Twitter is the most popular microblogging application, with almost one million users called twitterers, who can send and receive messages via the web, SMS, instant messaging clients, and by third party applications. Posts are limited to 140 text characters in length. With a solid experience in using Web2.0 technologies in education, the authors are trying to provide arguments for using Twitter as microblogging platform / social network in education, underlining its advantages, but also possible bad points. The article presents too an application related to the Romanian Twitosphere and a Romanian microblogging platform, already used in education. Although the last years of our life involve drastic, even frustrating changes in our way of life, the accommodation difficulties at this age can be overcome, even by means of technology. This podcast brings out the problem of old age to the field of Internet and, especially for using a new web-instrument that can cause benefic readjustments to the way of life of older people. We will speak about the blog, an online instrument, that does not just strengthen the social prestige and self-esteem of the third age, but can also induce major changes to the way older people are perceived and to the interest society shows to their problems. |
